Lamotte response
Lamotte says that it is more about the process than the final product. She talks about people comparing their first drafts to people who published their final pieces and says they also have drafts that are not as good. If you write a bad first draft, it is easier to revise it than to just write a perfect draft on the first try. I agree with this because in the first draft, you are already trying to say everything, so if you focus too much on trying to make each sentence perfect, it will be really hard to write. She also says that the more you write, it is easier to cut parts down. She mentions that when she is writing food reviews, she writes a lot. A lot more than the required amount, but then the next day, go back through and find things to take out. I think taking out information is easier than adding information, so this is good to do. For my draft, I do not think I could do this though. WAfter writing everything I thought of, I only got to 3 pages, so I would not be able to take much out or I wouldn’t have enough pages of the essay.
