- What was your final thesis statement? Paste, then analyze its strengths & weaknesses in a focused paragraph (considering specificity, taking a stance, narrow focus, needing evidence to defend).
Because everyone else uses social media, there can be disadvantages to not using it.
I think this thesis statement takes a stance about there being advantages to using it and I give a few examples after the thesis. I think the weakness is that it’s in the middle of the paragraph so it may not be very clear and identifiable.
- In a separate paragraph, describe what you learned or were reminded of about your own writing process, from completing Paper #1. I learned how to use my own experiences to prove my point and that it does not make it look too much like an opinion. It is also the longest essay I have written so I learned how to use quotes and expand using details to fill up the pages.
- In another paragraph: Which aspect of revision did you focus on most? What changes or adjustments made your essay stronger? Be specific. I focused on trying to put my own opinions throughout some of the paragraphs. I think the hardest part was finding places to expand on in my own experiences. Another part I revised was saying the author before the quote so it tells the reader who is talking.
- How might you approach Paper #2 differently, from pre-reading and annotating, all the way through completion of your final draft? I will add more annotations on the articles, so I can find specific parts while writing the essay. I will also use the first draft to get more ideas and use all six quotes so I do not need to add as much while making the final draft.
